usedsyncronoise: (This is my serious face.)

If I had my choice, I'd prefer to stay out of battles...

...but I know how important they are to forging and reinforcing bonds.

Growing up in the orphanage/day-care run by Martha and Doc Schmitt was probably one of the best things that ever happened to Fudou Yuusei. If it hadn't been for that place, he wouldn't have been what he was now.

The place was worn and run-down, inadequately stocked despite the owners' best efforts. But it was the only place that orphaned children and Pokemon alike could call even remotely safe. Combinations of this and other factors could often lead to sad and sometimes disturbing situations that could have been prevented had there been the proper resources.

After fully understanding one of these situations circling a young Shinx that would soon be one of his many partners, Yuusei decided then and there to become a Pokemon Breeder, one that could help and nurture Pokemon as they grew to prevent those sort of sad tales. When he declared his decision to Martha and Schmitt, they didn't discourage him. Instead they gave him a notebook and pencil, telling him that it was important to keep every single detail he knew about Pokemon under his charge written down, and that he should also keep daily records of how they were doing.

Many more notebooks eventually joined that one, not only on Pokemon that he took under his wing, but notes on Pokemon he had yet to see, on berries and their uses, on medicines and folklore, among other things. Around the Klink that had been with him since birth gathered many more Pokemon, all with their own stories and all drawn by some strange understanding Yuusei just seemed to have with them, either a strange innate ability or simply honed through his work. The life was...comfortable enough, even with the difficulties.

It was sometime after Satisfaction, however, after Jack had left the Satellite intending to be a Pokemon Master and Crow had left to form his own day-care-slash-orphanage in the B.A.D., that Yuusei started to feel a sort of...discontent. Whether he cared to admit it or not, Satisfaction had awakened a sense of adventure and excitement within him that had been lost due to the drudgery of the Satellite. That coupled with his willingness and eagerness to learn everything and anything that could be applied to Pokemon Breeding, was enough to make him wonder if it was time for him to set out as well.

Then Yuusei ended up saving a pair of twins from the City. Somehow they had ended up straight in the middle of one of many gang battles, and between his quick thinking and their surprising potential in Pokemon Battles, they managed to not only escape from that one battle, but shut down the gang responsible for antagonizing the fight in the first place.

Initially, Yuusei had been doubtful of their ability; he had never really agreed with the idea that ten year olds were permitted to wander about on their own with Pokemon. So, he had offered to fly them out of the Satellite. However, he was informed that their intent was to travel straight through the Satellite and explore it before heading to their next destination; and between Rua's determination and Ruka's steady reasoning, he found in them a naivete and pure ambition that he remembered from his first days foraging into the realm of Pokemon Breeding.

Because of this, despite his misgivings, Yuusei eventually agreed to guide them around the Satellite...not knowing that this simple decision would change the course of his life for good.
